Description As global human populations and urbanization continue to grow in the new millennium, environmental pollution and its consequences are of critical international concern. Clearly there are differences between developed and developing countries. Thus, human generated pollutants such as atmospheric smog, inorganic (e.g., toxic metals) and organic (e.g., poly-aromatic compounds) particulate matter are persistent global problems. Emissions of trace gases such as carbon dioxide have a profound effect on our climate. So do the influences of fertilizers, pesticides and herbicides on our surface and ground water quality. All these and other on-going changes in our environment have major direct and indirect effects on human health, terrestrial and aquatic ecosystems and materials of modern and historic origins. Environmental education, use of better production technologies, economics and public policies are all key drivers of environmental management, conservation and our future. These all-encompassing issues require on-going scholarly analyses and synthesis of the state-of-our-knowledge in planning for our future betterment.Developments in Environmental Science is a NEW, broad scope, international environmental and applied science book series publishing titles on topics such as:– Persistent organic pollutants– Heavy metals– Excess nutrient loading– Photochemical oxidants and other air pollutants– Global climate change– Environmental chemistry and toxicology– Environmental impacts and risk assessment (e.g. human health, terrestrial and aquatic systems)Developments in Environmental Science will include:– Monographs– Co-authored works– Multi-authored edited works– Conference proceedingsINVITATION TO SUBMITA Guide for Book Proposals: Developments in Environmental ScienceAn authoritative new book series from Elsevier ScienceBooks suitable for this series include manuscripts written by individual authors, edited works containing chapters written by various individuals, edited conference proceedings, and soft cover versions of important computer software packages. The language of the book series will be US and UK English, though foreign language abstracts may be considered in special cases.Proposals for books to be included in this series should take the form of:• A short general description of the aims and scope of your book• A draft outline of the contents• For multi author works, details should be given as to the authors of each chapter• A sample chapter (if available)• Your Curriculum Vitae/Resume, including details of your academic and professional qualifications and a list of previous publications• A brief description of the core readership and level of the book• Is it written with a specific course in mind?• List other books that might be considered as competitive works and explain how this one will differ with regard to approach, method of treatment, arrangement and ease of understanding• Would industries/societies/conferences be interested in the book? If so which ones?• State the maximum number of pages to be included and the number of colour figures, half tones and line drawingsPlease indicate the expected deadline for completion of the manuscript• Please provide names and full mailing and E-mail addresses of up to six established and internationally reputed scientists in the subject area who might serve as peer reviewers of the proposal.Proposals should be sent to: Professor Sagar V.
